A rare quality
Little girl Sumathi was brilliant in studies and used to secure highest marks in the class.Parents of this little girl were really proud of their only daughter. But Sumathi had suddenly developed a rare quality of being silent. She preferred to respond by way of signs. In the extreme situation, she used to write on a paper. The reason for this sudden development could not be traced out immediately. Parents were really worried for the sudden change in the daughter's nature. Their efforts to stop such undesirable attitude did not materialise. Her responding by way of sign had become problem to teachers in the school. The school authorities had warned to mend her attitude immediately.
Once in her colony, all the residents formed an association and decided to celebrate "Ganesha Chaturthi". For children there were various contests. The participant should answer in action.There were set of questions like If your parents ask you for a change on the week end and give you option either you prefer going for a shopping or visit to temple.All the contestants, although they performed well but not at the satisfaction of the judges. But Sumati's performance was excellant.Her actions were simple, to the point and reveal answer to the question. She folded her hands and closed eyes for a moment, which denotes remembering God. Then she raised her head towards the sky with folded hands with movements of lips in the form of chanting mantra. It means she was interested in going to temple. Her action impressed the judges and selected as a winner.
In some other occasions, Sumathi had to face problems due to her strange attitude. She had to swallow the insult from the public because of her unwanted actions.
Thereafter, she realised her mistake and given up the peculiar attitude and became a normal girl. Nobody tried to ask her the reason for sudden change. Her mom asked the daughter to explain the reason.Sumathi justified her attitude and said everybody must experience new thing and learn both good and bad from it.Her mom expressed the happiness and appreciated the daughter for the knowledge, she gained at this age and advised her to follow right path.
